Ballantyne Golf Academy has assembled an award-winning team of teaching professionals who make it their mission to be continuous learners and outstanding teachers. Our Master, Senior, and Teaching Professionals have between 7 and 20 years experience and participate in research, continuing education and training.

From new golfers to single-digit handicappers, we offer a variety of programs. Your golf instructor will provide a plan and suggest a program that will assist you in achieving your golf goals. Our programs include:

Aaron Waters

Senior Teaching Professional

Hometown: Lawrenceville, New Jersey

A backyard lesson with his father led Aaron to fall in love with golf at the age of seven. Under the guidance of his first professional teacher, Aaron developed his game, began playing competitively, and ranked #8 in the New Jersey High School athletic system. Consistent high performance led to his recent induction into the New Jersey Athletic Hall of Fame.

Expertise and passion launched Aaron’s 15-year professional teaching career in California where he taught all ages and skill levels; coached elementary, high school and corporate programs; and even introduced entire families to golf. Aaron especially enjoys helping beginners and young people develop their skills and respect for the game.

Aaron loves to share his thirty years of playing experience and believes that keeping it simple and fun is the key to success. Aaron effectively teaches individuals, groups and families by adapting to his students’ unique learning styles supported by state-of-the-art video analysis, modern training aids and on-course playing lessons to enhance the learning process.

Bruce Parker

Teaching Professional

Bruce comes to us from The Effortless Golf Center in Pineville.  He has owned 2 driving ranges and golf centers in the Charlotte area.  He has been teaching golf for over 30 years and has developed his own style of presenting the golf swing in an easy and understandable way for students to learn it quicker and more consistently.

Bruce started learning golf from the age of 10 on a par 3 course in Greensboro, North Carolina. He quickly became ranked as a junior golfer, played #1 on his high school team and received a college scholarship to Georgia State University.

Bruce has worked as an Assistant Professional, Head Professional, Director of Instruction, and facility owner over the last 3 decades.  He is well versed in the golf business and is an excellent instructor.  His style of teaching the golf swing will help you become better at being you; which means he will allow you to be unique in accomplishing your goals at golf.  His method is called “Effortless Golf”.  That is the ease of learning and retaining the information… it’s effortless.  Come find out why his students keep getting better.  As Albert Einstein said, “If you cannot explain the subject in simple terms, you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Doug Breuer

Master Teaching Professional

Doug’s enthusiasm for the game and for teaching is contagious and his knowledge of the game in all areas makes it fun for his students, regardless of their age or skill level. He is very interested in improving your short game and putting along with his positive approach to full swing instruction.  Doug joined the Ballantyne Golf Academy in 2006 after teaching 13 years at Michael Hebron’s Golf School in Smithtown, NY.  He is a former teaching professional and Director of Instruction at Island Green Golf School in Selden, NY and the former Head Pro at Smithtown Landing Country Club. Doug was named in Consumers Research Council of America Guide to America’s Top Golf Instructors in 2002.

Karina Sanchez

Master Teaching Professional

Born in the Dominican Republic, Karina grew up playing tennis until a knee injury cut her career short. Initially playing golf to stay active, she quickly fell in love with the game, transitioning from a successful career as a graphic designer to move to golf full-time. Subsequently, she moved to Orlando, Florida, where she earned an associate degree at the Professional Golfers Career College.

Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Karina brings the uniqueness of having played golf at the highest level, qualifying for the LPGA’s Symetra Tour after only having played golf for four years.

For the past five years, she has been a key member in her country’s National Golf Team and has been the Dominican National Golf Champion on three occasions and Athlete of the Year, an honor issued by the Dominican National Association of Sports Writers.

Karina makes a difference in golfers’ games by improving personal technique and overall scores by approaching the game out on the course with a brand-new perspective on the game.

Margo Fonda

Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor

Hometown: Durham, NC

Margo began her career in fitness after earning a B.S. at North Carolina State University.

Margo is passionate about golf and fitness, and as of 2015 serves as an extension of Ballantyne Golf Academy’s team, while being based at the Ballantyne Hotel Fitness Center.

She has been teaching group and private exercise classes for 25 years, and joined the team at the Hotel in 2010. Twelve years ago Margo earned her Personal Trainer Certification with American Council on Exercise. Prior to conducting TPI Titleist Performance Institute assessments, Margo has previously taught individual and group classes for aqua, strength, STEP, senior, adult, maternity and aerobic dance.

As a TPI-CGFI (Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor) Margo screens individuals, revealing swing fault characteristics that can be targeted with corrective exercises.

In addition, Margo is certified with Functional Movement Systems, a forward thinking system that addresses quality of movement to reduce injury and increase performance.

A dog lover, Margo’s hobbies include playing golf and reading.
