Our Master, Senior, and Teaching Professionals have between 7 and 20 years experience and participate in research, continuing education and training.

Steve Bogdanoff

Steve is a PGA Class A Professional, with a B.S. in Business Administration and Professional Golf Management from Coastal Carolina University.  A native of Fairfax, Virginia, he’s been teaching for more than 10 years and joined our team in 2015 after working as a Club Professional at private facilities in Virginia, Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island, SC.  Growing up, Steve was a Varsity athlete for his Baseball and Football teams while still mastering the game of golf.  His background as an all-around athlete has shaped his teaching style.  With certifications in BodiTrak Sports, Swing Catalyst and Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) he has an incredible grasp of the body swing connection and the use of ground forces needed to produce an efficient and athletic motion.  He helps his students create better club head speed and effortless power with easy to understand drills and mechanics.  Steve is also the Director of Junior Golf and holds certifications with U.S. Kids Golf, Operation 36, and is a member of the Positive Coaching Alliance.


Stan Roach

Recognized by Golf Digest as one of America’s 100 Best Clubfitters and selected as Ping’s Regional Clubfitter of the Year in 2003, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2014, Stan provides comprehensive custom club fitting and club repair, as well as assistance with purchasing clubs. With more than 20 years of experience in the golf equipment industry, Stan recognizes the importance of personalized customer service, striving to find appropriate clubs for players of all levels, from novices to PGA professionals. Through an extensive process of fitting both statically and dynamically, Stan evaluates multiple key factors specific to each golfer, including shaft length, lie angle, shaft flex, grip size and club head design, as well as how it affects the ball flight. Stan is also an Edel Certified Fitter, committed to helping golfers improve their putting by finding a custom fit to fix flaws and putt better. Stan also uses the FlightScope Launch Monitor for driver fittings, distance measurement and clubfitting.

Aaron Waters

A backyard lesson with his father led Aaron to fall in love with golf at the age of seven. Under the guidance of his first professional teacher, Aaron developed his game, began playing competitively, and ranked #8 in the New Jersey High School athletic system. Consistent high performance led to his recent induction into the New Jersey Athletic Hall of Fame.

Expertise and passion launched Aaron’s 15-year professional teaching career in California where he taught all ages and skill levels; coached elementary, high school and corporate programs; and even introduced entire families to golf. Aaron especially enjoys helping beginners and young people develop their skills and respect for the game.

Aaron loves to share his thirty years of playing experience and believes that keeping it simple and fun is the key to success. Aaron effectively teaches individuals, groups and families by adapting to his students’ unique learning styles supported by state-of-the-art video analysis, modern training aids and on-course playing lessons to enhance the learning process.

Karina Sanchez

Teaching Apprentice

Hometown: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Born in the Dominican Republic, Karina grew up playing tennis until a knee injury cut her career short. Initially playing golf to stay active, she quickly fell in love with the game, transitioning from a successful career as a graphic designer to move to golf full-time. Subsequently, she moved to Orlando, Florida, where she earned an associate degree at the Professional Golfers Career College.

Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Karina brings the uniqueness of having played golf at the highest level, qualifying for the LPGA’s Symetra Tour after only having played golf for four years.

For the past five years, she has been a key member in her country’s National Golf Team and has been the Dominican National Golf Champion on three occasions and Athlete of the Year, an honor issued by the Dominican National Association of Sports Writers.

Karina makes a difference in golfers’ games by improving personal technique and overall scores by approaching the game out on the course with a brand-new perspective on the game.

Doug Breuer

Senior Teaching Professional

Doug’s enthusiasm for the game and for teaching is contagious and his knowledge of the game in all areas makes it fun for his students, regardless of their age or skill level. He is very interested in improving your short game and putting along with his positive approach to full swing instruction.  Doug joined the Ballantyne Golf Academy in 2006 after teaching 13 years at Michael Hebron’s Golf School in Smithtown, NY.  He is a former teaching professional and Director of Instruction at Island Green Golf School in Selden, NY and the former Head Pro at Smithtown Landing Country Club. Doug was named in Consumers Research Council of America Guide to America’s Top Golf Instructors in 2002.

Brian Lombard

Born in Aspen, Colorado, Brian spent his summers playing junior golf and winters on the mountain skiing and snowboarding. After relocating to Orlando, he continued to play golf and developed an interest in lacrosse. Brian played lacrosse competitively for Florida State University.  Brian returned to Orlando and completed his degree in psychology at the University of Central Florida. While at UCF, Brian began working at the Grand Cypress Academy of Golf and worked there for seven years, four as a Head Instructor.

 

Brian looks to combine physical fitness and mental acuity with the technical golf swing to improve player performance at all levels. He prides himself on being able to work with all ages and levels but also has a passion for developing junior players. In 2016, Brian received the award of Youth Player Development Coach of the Year for the North Florida East Central Chapter. He holds certifications as a PGA Class A, TPI Level 1 Fitness Coach, BodiTRak pressure mat system, TPI Level 2 Junior Coach, and a USKids Instructor.

 

Brian has worked with players competing on tours such as the Web.com, Florida Moonlight, European Challenge, Latino America, and the Sun Coast.

 

While at Grand Cypress, Brian learned from the inventor of the Flightscope and worked on research projects with Dr. Ralph Mann using the Swingmodel.

Ray Martin, NZPGA

Ray is originally from Taunton, Somerset in the southwest of England. His love of golf began in his early teenage years. As a teenager, Ray took lessons from his local PGA professional which sparked his interest in becoming a PGA professional himself. He then ventured out and embarked on a career as a farrier, successfully managing his own small business for eight years. Ray never lost his passion for the game of golf and at the age of 31 decided to move to the Gold Coast, Australia to attend the Australasian Golf Academy. There Ray developed an even deeper understanding of golf and how to teach effectively.

In 2012 Ray began his PGA traineeship in New Zealand where his love of golf evolved into a passion for golf coaching. During this time, Ray built a broad range of coaching experience consisting of group clinics, individual and junior golfers, beginners through to elite level.

Ray uses a holistic approach to address individual needs and cultivates a fun environment to allow for an extensive learning experience. His coaching philosophy is for players to develop awareness and understanding of their own game to reach their full potential. Understanding one’s golf game is the optimal way to achieve better scores.

Stewart O’Malley

Having achieved the prestigious Certified PGA level in Teaching and Coaching, he ranks in the top 6% of PGA instructors in the world.

Stewart’s utilization of the Great Results Learning Style Assessment, combined with his own individualized, proven teaching methods and overall philosophy of “making golf fun” help support his overall objective: to meet each golf student at the highest point of his/her individual needs.

Stewart is considered by his students, peers, and fellow professionals to be one of the most innovative golf instructors in the industry. Margo Fonda

Margo began her career in fitness after earning a B.S. at North Carolina State University.

Margo is passionate about golf and fitness, and as of 2015 serves as an extension of Dana Rader’s team, while being based at the Ballantyne Hotel Fitness Center.

She has been teaching group and private exercise classes for 25 years, and joined the team at the Hotel in 2010. Twelve years ago Margo earned her Personal Trainer Certification with American Council on Exercise. Prior to conducting TPI Titleist Performance Institute assessments, Margo has previously taught individual and group classes for aqua, strength, STEP, senior, adult, maternity and aerobic dance.

As a TPI-CGFI (Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor) Margo screens individuals, revealing swing fault characteristics that can be targeted with corrective exercises.

In addition, Margo is certified with Functional Movement Systems, a forward thinking system that addresses quality of movement to reduce injury and increase performance.

A dog lover, Margo’s hobbies include playing golf and reading.
